Chicago Debates is committed to protecting the privacy of its users. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information about you when completing our Student Participation Application (the “Application”).

We may collect personal information that you provide to us, such as your name, email address, phone number, school name, grade level, gender, race, preferred pronouns, parental/guardian contact information (phone, email, address), and other information critical to program participation.

How We Use Your Information
We may use the personal information that we collect for the following purposes: To track program participation; To communicate with students and families about important program updates; To personalize the program experience; To monitor and analyze historical program participation trends; To receive important parental permissions; and For any other purpose with your consent. We may also use your information in an aggregated or anonymized form that does not identify you personally.

How We Share Your Information
When Chicago Debates shares data, it is anonymized and aggregated and only shared with funders to verify alignment with their funding priorities. Additionally, Chicago Debates will share data with the Chicago Public Schools  administration, if requested. We may also disclose your information if required by law or if we believe that such disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of our users.

Your Choices
You may choose not to provide us with certain personal information, but this may limit your ability to fully participate in our program. You may also request changes to your personal information and preferences by contacting us at

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access,  use, and disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s Privacy
The Chicago Debates Participation Application is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. Parents must complete the Chicago Debates Participation Application on behalf of their child who is under the age of 13 years.
